Charles Leclerc turns on the ignition before the 79th Monaco Grand Prix

In F1 since 2018 as in F2 a year earlier, he has never crossed the finish line at home in Monaco. Will Charles Leclerc, Scuderia Ferrari's strongest link in the 2022 title race, end that streak this Sunday? Questions for a driver who wants to become champion.

When the day and time of this video conference was set last week, he was still firmly in control of the championship. That was before the Spanish Grand Prix, where the number 16 Ferrari F1-75's fantastic ride at the front of the pack came to an end.

Turbocharged and out of breath, Charles Leclerc had to "put the arrow" and let the competition slip away in the Montmelo arena. A first abandonment in 2022 which cost him dearly since the Monegasque pillar of the Scuderia now occupies 2nd place in the provisional hierarchy, six lengths behind the ogre Max Verstappen (Red Bull) who came back like a cannonball with three wins in Imola, Miami and Barcelona. With no time to spare, Turn 7 is now looming ahead.
